Warm weather (and sunglasses that are no more).

On Easter weekend, we had some gorgeous weather. We had lunch outside on a patio. That Friday felt like the official arrival of spring. (Though it did get cooler again, so I am still wearing a coat.) But even so, that hope of approaching warmer weather is here.

This photo is perhaps the last one where S is wearing these sunglasses. Last weekend, my car was broken into and our sunglasses were stolen. Oddly, that is all they took despite other things (like an external hard drive) being in the car. And thankfully the sunglasses they got of mine weren't these (which were cheap but I like them), but were another "back-up pair" that I didn't even like, so no loss there. S did really like his sunglasses, but they were actually broken and he was already thinking of replacing them. Given the circumstances, I guess we came out pretty well. Plus the thief was nice enough to only break the small triangular back window.

  1. My car got broken into a few months ago and they took our GPS but left my ipod...it was scary.

  2. I think what was more shocking was about a year or so ago when my parents' car got broken into parked almost under my apartment window in Chicago. But my dad had a GPS in there. (Beth, I guess people must really want these?)

So, though our break-in was not as shocking as that one, what was surprising is that my car is a 15 year old car that has totally seen better days. What I used to like most about it was that "no one would ever bother to break into it." We don't keep it in top shape, and it is obvious by looking in that there is nothing valuable in there. So that was the shocker for me: why would anyone waste their time (and risk getting caught) to break into my car???

(he asked him to leave and called the cops. the cops searched him, and he had a knife on him! lucky we didn't get hurt)
